K12 First
Privacy Notice
Effective July 15, 2026
This notice explains how K12 First processes information through K12Cast, including the web administration service, classroom features, browser players, and the K12Cast app for LG webOS TVs. School districts and other subscribing organizations control their users, displays, content, and education records. K12 First processes that information to provide and protect the service.

- Display and device information: display names and assignments, pairing status, device and browser characteristics, network address, resolution, health heartbeats, diagnostics, commands, and error reports.
- Customer content: media, presentations, playlists, schedules, announcements, alerts, templates, live boards, and related metadata uploaded or configured by an organization.

- Service activity: authentication and audit events, feature activity, proof-of-play records, security events, support communications, and operational logs.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate users and devices; deliver, schedule, and verify content; provide classroom collaboration; route authorized live sessions; diagnose failures; respond to support requests; prevent abuse; maintain security and availability; satisfy contractual requirements; and improve service reliability.
School and student information
K12Cast is designed for use under the direction of a school or district. The organization determines which features are enabled and what student information is collected. K12 First does not use student information for targeted advertising, does not build advertising profiles from education records, and does not sell student personal information. Schools are responsible for providing required notices and obtaining any permissions that apply to their use of the service.
Screen-sharing media is transmitted for the active session and is not recorded by K12Cast. Live Canvas replay recording is optional and occurs only when an authorized user enables it under organization policy. Browser-generated captions transmit caption text; the service does not record microphone audio for captioning.
Sharing and service providers
We disclose information to personnel authorized by the subscribing organization and to service providers that support hosting, security, email delivery, content processing, real-time communications, and customer support. Providers may process information only to perform services for K12 First or the subscribing organization. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the service or its users, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.
Security, retention, and deletion
K12Cast uses encrypted network connections, role- and scope-based access controls, hashed server-side credentials, audit logging, short-lived live-session credentials, and administrative display revocation. Retention depends on the record type, organization settings, contractual requirements, and legal obligations. Authorized administrators can remove content and users, revoke display access, and request account or tenant data deletion, subject to backup, security, audit, and legal-retention requirements.
Your choices and requests
Users should first contact their school or organization for access, correction, export, or deletion requests involving organization-controlled information. Organizations may contact K12 First for assistance with those requests. A display can be disconnected by an authorized administrator, which revokes its access to future content.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as the service, law, or our practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated through the service or to subscribing organizations as appropriate.
